A big thank you to all our sponsors -The Hilton London Metropole, Greenleaf, Euro Quality Lambs, and Baraka for their support for our Evening for the Children of Gaza. Also a big thank you to our volunteers who worked so tirelessly for the event and a huge thank you to all our donors and supporters who raised a staggering =A3300,000 for the children of Gaza-We could not have done it without you!

Muslim Aid hosted a high profile fundraising dinner, An Evening for the Children of Gaza, at Hilton Metropole on Saturday 21st February 2009.

Muslim Aid emphasized the need for continued support from donors who have already managed to raise =A31,800,000 for the =A35 million emergency Gaza appeal. Ticket proceeds and funds raised will go directly towards Muslim Aid's rehabilitation work in Gaza.

Muslim Aid has already provided clean water, food parcels, blankets, medicines and trauma counselling to thousands of families. However for a peaceful and secure future, the work has only just begun. Further emergency relief is much needed, as well as aid for the rehabilitation of people's lives and homes. With 20,000 homes and 4,000 buildings damaged in the conflict, rebuilding lives will pose a huge challenge.

The evening's programme included nasheeds from internationally renowned artist Zain Bhikha and Labbayk, inspirational talks by Dr Daud Abdullah (Palestinian Return Centre) and Anas Al-Tikriti (President of the Cordoba Foundation), recitations from Palestinian poetry by children and a charity auction with a twist.

Muslim Aid also promoted Palestinian oil producers, Zaytoun: an ethical business established to support marginalized farming communities in Palestine.

Guests included Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Rt. Hon Stephen Timms and Baroness Uddin, the first Muslim, female member of the House of Lords.
